• You can certainly boot straight from the disc if you change your boot order to do so.

• Yes, the disc is bootable. Go into the Bios and change the boot order to put the CD/DVD drive as the first priority. Put the disc in and reboot the computer. I did this to format the drive and install Win 8.1. Worked perfectly.

• You can to install it, but not to run as the OS. Must be installed to the Hard Drive.

• I was able to boot up but will completely wipe your hard drive if you choose to reinstall windows or upgrade
