Go to redeem.microsoft.com, sign in, and enter the code (or use the link from your Best Buy account). It’s a 1-month promo, not a full year.

For the Xbox app there should be a banner at the top saying claim/redeem. Follow on screen prompts then add your card for the future subscription. Check that it’s active at account.microsoft.com under Services & Subscriptions. Hope this helps!
