Get your son the black one cause its faster, more powerful , has more storage, and has 4k if you have a television for him that supports 4k gaming.
Thank you for your question! While both systems share most of the same features and will play next-generation games, Xbox Series X is more powerful, has a larger solid state drive, can play games in true 4K resolution, and has a built-in 4K UHD Blu-ray drive for playing Xbox games on disc.
I'd Imagine he'd want the black one, mostly because it is much better, and is the main xbox releasing. The white one is more of a secondary and he might not like it as much as the other. I'd try asking him, though because you never know.
The white Xbox is digital only. Meaning you download the games. The black one has a disc drive.
The 299 model plays downloads the black one plays with game disks
