First check your projectors connection with your usb converter plugged into it while powered on. The screen should change from the no signal screen to blue waiting for a device to connect. Next check to make sure your USB port is working properly on your MacBook by using another device/connection in the port. If you do this and you do not get a visual feed after you plug into your MacBook you could have a usb cord that is worn on the connection strip and just need a new one.
