I have a Pioneer AVH-510EX that was working with a Samsung Galaxy S7 and a MODAL braided cable. It is not working with a Google Pixel 3 and this MD-MCABG4 cable Someone suggested using the cable that came with the phone, but that is a USB-C to USB-C cable for fast charging. It is not the common USB-A to USB-C cable. https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/Android+Auto+not+working+for+newer+USB+Type-C+phones+(including+Pixel) There is an extension from the back of the radio to a convenient place to plug in this cable. I'm going to try a different phone, maybe crawl under the dash and try to eliminate the extension, or try a Belkin Cable, which is on the list of "certified" USB-C cables.
I would recommend:
