I don't think so. I am wide opened but didn't get anything when I hooked it up.

The distance from town is about 20 miles (straight-line distance). It took less than 5 minutes, and was VERY easy. Afterwards, I now receive 17 additional digital local channels (it will probably vary according to your local area). Because my walls are white and the antenna is also white, it blends in nicely (doesn't stand out or look out of place). Best Buy even had a special "Holiday Deal" where they threw in a 4K UHD Amazon Firestick with the antenna for $59.99...couldn't pass it up. My one and ONLY complaint is that the "Y" cord (one leg of the "Y" goes to the antenna, the other goes to the power cord) when both cords are plugged in is heavy, and there is no Velcro or Sticky side to attach to relieve the strain on the cords. I recommend buying some Velcro and attach to one side of the "Y" cord and the other to something (like the back of your TV if possible) so it will provide a strain relief. Hope this helps you decide.
