Our house is just under 30 miles from Mt. Wilson (Los Angeles), where the TV transmitters are located. We have a good line-of-sight location. The antenna is fastened onto a window near the TV set. The reception is very good---better than Dish Networks' standard picture and virtually as good as Dish's HD picture. Each channel displays the signal strength---mostly about 68%. We receive all four networks, two independents plus two or three PBS channels. On a windy day, sometimes the signal goes out for a few seconds and then returns. This seems strange, since the antenna is inside the house and is not affected by wind. We can record programs on our DVR but are limited to a recording a single channel at a time. I'd say give the OTA antenna a try. Installation is a no-brainer and you will know immediately if it works for you.
