You must be near the vehicle to connect to the camera and view footage. The camera creates its own private Wi-Fi network. You go into your phone's settings, join that specific Wi-Fi network, and then open the Momento app. This means it behaves more like a walkie-talkie than a cell phone; you have to be within about 10–20 feet of the car for the app to see the camera.
