“Is this an actual extra battery that is integrated into the case that you can then switch to when battery 1 goes low, or a charger? Thx. What I'm wondering is, if this is an actual battery that I can then switch to when battery one goes low and then use an external portable charger to be charging battery 1 while battery 2 is being used.”

This product actually recharges your phone back to full when you switch this item on. It's like a battery charger built into a case. Just recharge this item and your ready for next time

Please try again later.the button on the back is pushed to charge your phone battery from the extra battery integrated into the case so technically its a charger I guess, but does double your battery life, and they both charge at the same time so that part is very convenient, but you cannot charge one while using the other, unless after charging your phone from the case you remove the case from the phone and charge it separately. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This is technically a charger for your phone. You charge the case and when its connected to your phone and turned on, you charge your phone with it. You can charge this case either with the phone plugged in called pass through charging (phone charges first, then case) or charge it separately from phone. You cannot remove the battery from the case and insert it into the phone.
