Yes, you are able to use your old phone number, provided you did not cancel your service and cricket did not give the number to someone else. 
If you did not cancel your service and cricket supports the phone, the phone you buy comes with a new sim card in the packaging. Go to the cricket website and select "bring your own phone " or "use our own phone " and simply follow the instructions. You need some information from the card the sim card is attached to, and some information from the new phone. You could also call customer service. Before calling go the the website and look where the information is that you need to provide. Then ask to keep you old number.

Yes just put your sim card out of your broken phone into your new phone and your good to go
