“Is the screen on this phone bright enough to use in direct daylight?”

• The screen is very bright, I cannot say that I have tried it at high noon direct sun, but I have used it outside with no problems. As I write this, I'm standing in my back yard with the sun shining full on the display, and it is very readable.
