• Depends on the carrier. I bought a simple mobile sim card for $1 and paid for the plan I chose. When I had tmobile I paid $10 for the sim then the price of the plan. Just buying the sim doesn't give you service you can buy a sim card but you still have to purchase a plan. You can still use the phone on wifi without either but you're bound to internet access unless you use offline apps.
