Not exactly sure what you mean about accessing global carriers, but I actually used my old 2021 version in Italy...bought a TIM plan for use there! My 2024 model I didn't use because I didn't want to chance using the eSim. I if I had switched the SIm card out I would have lost my number here in the US (Tracfone). I didn't want to mess with the eSim because overall, they can be a problem. So I just switched the card out on old phone and had a spare phone for use on wifi in case the old phone got damaged or lost...
