• Not sure - I would just activate it with the carrier you're going to use. I replaced an old iPhone and transferred my number to the new phone - still only one line and now just the new phone

• Well if you paid full price and didn't sign a contract then you should be able to But Sprint is cdma like Verizon and a couple of other Metro for example is gsm like many others
