No. You can alternate between both. I have mine set up that if switches rooms every minute.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It allows you to select which camera the audio is coming from. When you have a two camera setup, it's indicated by a red box around the camera feed for the one that you're interested in.

Also, I have both cameras set across the room from my child and they are zoomed in too much compared to our last monitor. I do not like this monitor. One of our cameras stopped working within a couple of weeks and the sound on the other camera has a horrible “electronic” buzzing sound that I can’t stand listening to. I wish I could’ve gotten a full refund on this thing but all this happened just after the return date from Best Buy so we’re stuck with it. I would advise to look else where. Hope this helps.
