Hello, Drilling a hole in your table to use this mount is not necessary. It comes with two mounting options. The c-clamp option wraps around the edge of your desk and then secures with a tension knob underneath. The grommet mounting option secures with a bolt and tension knob with the bolt running through the desk and would require a small hole through your desk in order to secure it.
