“Why does the brew button only flash instead of starting brew cycle?”

After it finishes brewing a pot of coffee, a 2-hour timing cycle comes on the display. That's to let users know how long it's been since it was made (a nice feature, incidentally). If you wish to brew another pot while the timing cycle is still on, the first time you hit the button it turns off the timer, then tap it again and it begins brewing.
