Check the spring valve on the bottom of the coffee ground filter holder cup to make sure it is of clear of any coffee grounds or residue. It should move up and down freely. If it's plugged up or not working correctly, the water will back up and over flow the filter cup. Also putting to much coffee grounds in can cause the coffee grounds to over flow the filter and pluging up the valve. I always wash and clean that valve after each time I make coffee to make sure it works correctly. next--- with a flash light, look inside underneath where the the filter cup inserts. There is a small recessed reservoir with a drain that allows the brewed coffee to go into the coffee pot. make sure that is clear of any debrie or coffee grounds. Hope this helps....
