Hello kevinK - the base frequency for the system is 2.0 gigahertz. When performing a CPU workload you can monitor your speed utilizing the Performance tab in Task Manager. The system will not run at the 5.8ghz constantly, only when there is a demanding workload that requires a temporary performance increase
