Yes, the power, video, and control of the keyboard and mouse go over the USB-C cable. That is exactly how I have it with my laptop. You will only need to use the supplied USB-B cable if your computer is hooked up to the monitor by video cable (HDMI or DisplayPort). The USB-B cable would run from the back of the monitor to your computer.
