While your system was running fine with a Ryzen 9 7950X3D, newer models like the 9800X3D may be more sensitive to voltage settings, temperature curves, or even outdated microcode on previous-generation motherboards. In this context, switching to a motherboard like the MSI Tomahawk X870 is an excellent decision, as it offers native support for Ryzen 9000 series processors, better overall stability, and a VRM more prepared for these new chips. Additionally, considering that you’re already using an MSI RTX 4080 SUPER GPU, maintaining consistency within the MSI ecosystem can improve compatibility and make setup easier. This combination will give you a more robust system, with better thermal performance and fewer compatibility issues, ideal for taking full advantage of the potential of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
