Will I be able to just drop in the new ryzen 5900x and update the bios to use it, or do I have to have an older cpu to put in it and update the bios with that cpu and then put in the 5900x? Saw a warning on pc part picker about this. null

This board as of the time I am answering has the new bios pre-loaded and is desktop ready for the new Zen 3 cpus. Hope this helped.

This motherboard has USB BIOS Flashback so you can update the BIOS via a USB stick without a CPU!
