“Currently have a 750W Thermaltake 80 gold. Would that be sufficient or would a 850 be the way to go. If so what are some good ones? Looking at the MSI A850 & A850G. Not necessarily looking to future proof, just what would work within safe limitations. thx”

• An 850W will be enough to run a 4080, but I would consider going with an Gen 5 rated PSU (like the A850G) that comes with the direct 16 pin connection that these newer 40 series cards use. The newer PSUs help prevent against a phenomenon called "transient spiking" whereby the card will momentarily draw incredible amounts of power, which if sustained for too long, can damage the PSU and GPU.
