• That is correct. The fan kicks in when it reaches certain temperature. the fan is very quite and you may not hear it if you dont pay attention.

• Yap same here ! It doesnot turn on until it reaches certain temperature hence, it is energy saver .Actually it is cooling fan to cooldowen the pc well excessive use / youre pc gets warmer.but in winter its already cool .
