As an Apple user, I understand what you mean with your question. Most people think it's the same thing, and it's not, Unlike Bluetooth, which connects directly (or ‘point to point’) between devices, AirPlay creates a connection by ‘piggybacking’ on your home Wi-Fi network. One of the disadvantages of using AirPlay is that the products have to be networked, which of course varies in complexity depending on the network and device. This device is not connected to a network nor does it have those capabilities. It connects only via Bluetooth, so it IS NOT COMPATIBILE WITH AIR PLAY. Although, it appears as AirPlay on Apple Music, it is connected with Bluetooth.
