No, run ARC from TV to soundbar, run your media device to soundbar and thats pretty much it. I have a shield connected to mine and it to the TV. Any smart features play from TV to soundbar and media from Shield goes through soundbar to TV. It made a very clean setup for me. A huge plus being wireless subs and the satellite speakers are wired above subs, but ultimately a clean setup and easy install.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nope no receiver is necessary. The Soundbar is the "receiver".
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No ... It comes built in with amp and audio decoders as listed in the spec.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No you do not need a receiver... However, be warned that there is significant LAG with this soundbar that you typically do not get with most all receivers. I've tried to measure the delay and got about 1.5 seconds on the rear speakers... meaning you will hear a noticeable delay when surround sound is turned on. I would not consider this sound bar to be a replacement for a receiver just yet... it is getting closer though. Hope it helps.
