I wouldn't recommend it, they have the rubber stuff on the bottom to prevent rattle, also the finish will get screwed if you lay it like that mate.

If you sit it on its side on a non-carpeted floor, it would likely create a bit of a rattle as the subwoofer starts thumping. But if it's on carpet or if you put some rubber or felt feet under the subwoofer, there should be no performance hit.
