• Not really. It uses AAA batteries for lights and sounds, but the firing mechanism is spring-powered. The blaster should work without batteries in it if you don't need/want the lights and sound effects

• Its not a flywheel powered it needs batteries for lights and so7nds only and the priming is a spring
