You will need to have a Nest Wifi router first to setup the Nest Wifi points. Nest Wifi is a Wi-Fi mesh system that replaces your current router to provide reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home. The Nest Wifi router needs to be connected to your modem via the WAN port with an Ethernet cable. Once setup, you can add more Wifi points wirelessly depending on the size of your home. Also, internet speed and reception depend on the modem and internet service provided by your service provider (ISP). Nest Wifi can help distribute the full speed it receives from your modem. As a general rule, Nest Wifi work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other. For an estimate of how much Wi-Fi coverage you’ll get with Nest Wifi and a guide to how many Wifi points you need check here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7182840
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Google sells a Nest Google Router that is required. This piece is a wifi extender/ Google speaker. See if you can get the 2 units in a set.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This item is the Nest Wifi Access Point. You still need the Nest Wifi router, or else this item will not work. Depending on the size and layout of your home, you may not need an access point, just the router. But I own both the router and an access point, and they work well together.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you will need a router but keep in mind the router is an access point as well. I would check this out to see what configuration would work best for you: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7182840?hl=en
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would need to purchase the router first but it acts as a wireless access point as well and then the additional points mesh with it to broadcast your wireless signals. So depending on the size of your living space you then need to decide on how many access points you need if any additional to the router. I have a 3000 sq. ft. Ranch home and ended up with two access points along with the router (so three total) for the coverage I wanted outside my home for cameras. Hope this helps but you need to start with the router so the add on points have something to mesh with.
