You do not need a second modem. You would need a bridge or a router configured as a bridge and would want to turn off your wireless on the AT&T provided modem/router if you plan. To use another wireless router. Otherwise you may run into interference or even UP address conflicts.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can't run 2 routers on the same cable connection.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Don't bother. You'll be wasting your money. The ARRIS is your modem. You can bypass the WiFi and make it bridge to a better quality WiFi router though if you want. That's what I would do and I recommend. That's what I did in my previous place when I had uVerse and it worked great.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need a router, not another modem. The modem convert cable access to ethernet and a roouter provides the IP addresses to your multiple PCs (wired or wireless). A combo unit (modem-router) like the NETGEAR AC-1750 replaces the ARRIS "Gateway" and the monthly rental fees.
