No this wouldn't work. You would need a modem to "handshake" with your provider.

A cable modem has two types of connections, Co-Ax to connect to your wall jack and an RJ45 jack (Ethernet) to connect to the router. The router in question does not have co-ax, so it cannot be used as a modem.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. This is designed to add more wired connections. Connect an Ethernet cable to a port on the switch and then you have four more connections. Most new modems have about 4 connection ports, but if you need more then this is perfect for that.
