Flipped cable = cross over cable. The specs do not mention Auto-MDIX so you will need a cross over cable unless the router or other device it connects too has Auto-MDIX and will provide cross over capabilities at the port.

No it does not require a flipped switch if the port you are supplying it with is setup in a standard and not reversed fashion.

I don't know of any that require a flipped cable. I'm using it to connect desktops (3), to a server. None of those connections require anything other than a standard Ethernet cable.

I hooked a regular cat6 patch cable from the router to Port 1 in this switch and everything works fine and as expected.

Just a regular cat 6 cable from any port on the cable modem to any port on the Netgear switch worked fine for me.

It will detect the incoming signal and provide that connection to the other ports. I have mine setup the way you are describing.

It's autodetect. No crossover cable is needed. I have it connected to another switch using a standard cable with the normal wire configuration.
