If you have an Ethernet port you are connected to your router. You can get a cheap switch that will turn that one port into 4 or 8.i

This is not a splitter, it switches very fast between the different ports. This allows the send and receive request to communicate between the internet and the connected devices.

You would connect one port of the switch to the hardwired Ethernet jack in your home. All other devices could be plugged into the open ports on the network switch. The hardwired Ethernet Jack in your home needs to terminate at your router (i.e. there should be a hardwired Ethernet jack by your router that you will run a network cable into your router). Another thing you could do is connect a wireless access point to either the network switch or directly to the Ethernet jack. Again, you'll still need to hook your router to the other end of the Ethernet jack.
