• I purchased Arris Surfboard SB6190. -- Modem only though.. Love it and it is very powerful for Comcast.. The Best Buy employees recommended it.

• No, the modem is great for Comcast that is true as I own the modem. However, you will need to buy a separate router and I would recommend the Netgear Nighthawk if you are into playing games online. If you don't want to buy two separate pieces of equipment, Best Buy does offer both devices put out by Netgear in one unit. I hope this answers your question. I went through the same thing not that long ago with Time Warner and so-called updated equipment. My husband bought the router at Wal Mart and I bought the Modem at Best Buy which was when I noticed the combination unit.
