There's nothing on the box or in the manual about beamforming technology. But it covers my entire house from a second floor bedroom without a problem. I'm not a gamer, but I do a lot of HD streaming, and Netflix is working flawlessly for me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The router has a single USB 2.0 port. According to Netgear's website, they have a FAQ page for the R6220 router that states that it supports Beamforming on the AC band.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The R6220's packaging states USB 2.0 in several places. You have to purchase the R6250 for USB 3.0. No mention of Beamforming technology anywhere on the box. Quite disappointing! I ended up shelling out the extra $30 for the Lynksys EA6400 (AC1600) which does have USB 3.0 and Beamforming tech.
I would recommend:

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It doesn't have beamforming technology. Netgear's list of router model number does not include this model (R6220). For the USB support, I would go with Netgear listing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.2.0
