A:AnswerIt is not slower. The stated speed of connecting to the router is deceptive. First the internet provider sets the base speed you connect with Say 100mps . That is limited by your router which splits it to Ethernet or WIFI. Ethernet connections on this router are 1000mbps connections. The WI-FI is stated as 1200 MBPS which sounds faster. Doesn't matter if you use wired connection or Wi-Fi , that speed is just how fast the connection is from your device to the router and it doesn't make the connection from the router to the internet any faster. It only makes the connection from your devices to the router faster.
Ethernet speeds can be affected if your using Cat5 0r Cat6 cable and the speed of the network card in your device which many desktops are still being built with 10/100 network cards in them. Ethernet speeds are slightly slower because of cable resistance.
Fiber optical cable is the only thing that is faster than WIFI due to a enclosed pipe with signals in a pure medium traveling at 186000 miles per second as light.
Wi-Fi is affected by things like brick ( iron rich clay absorbs WI-FI signals ) so using a router in one side of a house with internal brick walls will affect the reception. Also the amount of electrical wiring in the area between the router and the laptop / tablet / Smart tv . Finally Wireless devices like cordless phones can affect the signal strength.
Wi-Fi coverage works best with a centrally located router , for wider coverage it is always a good idea to consider either chaining another router or getting a range extender.
Your never going to get any more speed than what you paying for with your internet provider.
A:AnswerThe router will connect to any cable modem by any provider via the LAN connection on the cable modem. But to be clear, it does not connect to the cable outlet itself
A:AnswerAtt Uverse setups up a cable modem router combo which you can add an router to but your still only going to have the slow speed connecting to the internet through the ATT box. They should upgrade the equipment as part of your current plan I would talk to a different person at ATT to make sure.
A:AnswerI believe you are referring to a modem that has the coax input. It may include a built in router but this unit does not have both. The AC1000 (or AC1200) is only a router, not a modem.
A:AnswerIf you have FIOS you have a faster connection at least in theory due to being fiber. Problem is that providers throttle down the connection individually or by multiplexing it with a group of customers in a neighborhood. In this instance a connection speed can drop 80% due to being shared.
Ask if your on a local node that has the FIOS shared with a group of other customers . Ask what the speed is supposed to be and search the internet for sites that test your connection , pick test servers on the test site in different parts of the US not local to your state . see what the speed of your connection is versus the provider you pay says it is supposed to be.
Straight out ask them if they throttle their connection .
A:AnswerEvery internet provider should be compatible but if they provide a combo Modem/router box then you will need to piggy back your router onto that ..
I think adding an addition router is a good idea to keep your devices out of view from the provider. If you just use the providers router then they can see your devices.
Piggy Back Scenario
Provider internet connection >>> Provider Combo Modem/Router >>> Consumer Router >>> | __________________ Laptop

A:AnswerThis one allows for more than 100Mbps internet access via the ethernet cable directly from the modem(if you provider or your subscription allows 100Mbps and above).
A:AnswerThe ROKU tv should have no trouble connecting to this router . Check the WIFI specs on your tv before buying any router to make sure it is not using a older WIFI tech that might not be supported by the newer router WIFI technology.
A:AnswerHey John unfortunately no that won’t work as this Wi-Fi router because it needs to be connected to modem .You would need to purchase a Wi-Fi extender or a mesh network device
