G is an older WiFi protocol. N is newer and better. This router does G, N and the newest AC (best) protocol. It should support older as well as the newest devices you have. It also covers the 5 GHz as well as the 2.4 GHz band allowing minimum interference between devices. Not the most expensive router available but way good enough for most of us.
