This adapter won't be your bottleneck. I'm getting 1ms pings to my broadband router, and 450mbps connection speeds using the 5ghz band (sometimes higher). My router is 45 feet away (several rooms apart).

My son plays games from steam, the same thing. He wanted the 5G wifi connection so this gave it to him. He plugs it into the USB on computer and puts in our network password and no problems. He says the 5G connection is better.

The answer to this question really depends on the speed the router. That said, the adapter allows me to play Overwatch and Titanfall 2, so it should be good.
