It will increase the range. Your wifi is controlled by your Mbps that you pay to your internet provider

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your internet connect itself will be limited by your service and/or router. The wifi will be dependent on the band you use. You may end up with better throughput just by virtual of having a stronger signal so less data loss in your transmission but the actual available mbps will not change.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Extenders just increase the range the WiFi. If you need more Mbps, call your internet service provider and upgrade your plan. I needed more because I now upload videos and the 0.8Mbps upload was not enough. If your signal is low in the basement, that could effect your performance. That is what led me to getting an extender. Now the games and internet come in good and strong.
