No - you must pair the unit with the existing WiFi system. Most of your devices will need to have router location changed and password reentered. It took me about a half hour to do the setup process and enter 6 devices. Not hard at all.

You do have to do a few steps before able to create the proper wifi boost signal from the router to the wifi booster. It is easy to follow but one must read the directions in order to accomplish the wifi boost and obtain a great connection from the Internet they already have.
