There is a slight decrease in speed (bandwidth) whenever you connect to one of these devices rather than to the wifi "base station" so if you have (for example) slow DSL at your main router even though you will have a strong signal when connecting to the Netgear extender it likely won't help. But if you've got decent speed (>5-10 MbS) coming into your house and a moderately ok signal strength where you set up the booster/extender this device will work wonders.
