Dave, yes this device will help but you might have to tinker with the placement of it. Also, the only router code you should need will be the same network password you would use to log onto the network from your computer. Since you mention the router is an open network you could password protect this device and at least keep your side of the network somewhat secure so someone else seeing a stronger signal from this device isn't using it as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This will help as long as this range extender is within range of the source wifi. You can also password protect your range extender but logon to the source wifi without a password to cut back on freeriders. The speed will be dependent on the signal strength to the source wifi.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably not but it depends. As far as I'm aware, it's not going to amplify the signal, but simply extend the signal. In my case, I had poor signal strength on the 2nd floor of my house, so I installed the range extender on the 1st floor. Now I have excellent signal strength throughout the house. So, if you could install the range extender somewhere in your building where there's good signal strength, you may be able to get a stronger signal to your part of the building.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yup!! this is exactly what you need. but you have to plug this somewhere in your room where it'll get the best possible signal. find the optimum spot by walking around with your cell phone or laptop. than connect it to the nearest power outlet. Better it receives, better it'll repeat/throwout .. Good luck
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The extender must be in a location to receive the signal from the router. If the signal is too weak at your location, it will not work
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, if the SSID has no security key (open and free) this will extend it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, unless you can get close to the router to set it up. Even then you'll have to be within 50' (I think0 of the router for it to function.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If it's free wi-fi and you don't need a password to use it, then you won't need a password to setup the extender either. However, the first steps in setting up the extender require you to be near the router with a good signal. Even if you can do that, the final destination of the extendder should be some distance away from the router but still with a good signal. If thats not somewhere in your apartment (?), then I don't think this is a solution for you. sidenote - Do you want to be on an unprotected network with any number of people regardless of whether the signal is good or not?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No you need access to the device
