I don't know how your system is set up, but the NETGEAR AC750 WIFI RANGE EXTENDER needs to be able to actually receive a signal from your router in order for it to boost the signal. I would think it would have to be plugged into an upstairs electrical socket where it could then boost it across part of the second floor. I suggest you check to see if there is any WiFi signal anywhere upstairs first. Do you get a WiFi signal for your phone upstairs from your router?
