The camera is completely wireless for indoor/outdoor use and yes an Ethernet cable is included in the box that runs from the very slim and sleek base station to your router. Very easy to setup and use.

Please try again later.Not only do you need the Ethernet cable running from your wireless router to the Arlo Netgear base station in order to set up the camera, you must leave this cable connected to your wireless router for the camera to work. I called Netgear and this is what they told me. Only the camera is wireless, not the base station. The base station requires an electrical outlet, and to be connected to your wireless router via Ethernet cable. I haven't tried disconnecting the Ethernet cable to be sure, but maybe I will at some point.

Ethernet cable plugs from base to modem/router. The cameras are completely wireless. This looks like the best option to me.
