It's a wifi router and modem in one. It has two different wifi settings where one is for items like your laptop, tablets, and computers and the higher setting is for game systems, TVs, and phones for streaming and casting. The wifi can be controlled through the online settings as well and both password protected. It was worth the purchase for us in being able to diverse the internet to specific devices.
