We also had the comcast modem forever, and decided to finally invest in another router instead of paying the rental fee. We went with a Netgear router after reading the reviews. Been happy with the purchase. It works just as well as the Comcast router did. It has the option of being hard wired to 3 devices. However, I would recommend wireless if possible.
