The specs state "wifi for large homes". My home is 900 sqft. The wifi hardly reaches 20 feet from one room to another in my home. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS UNIT.

Please try again later.I don't know the answer to your first part As far wifi extend...we were in a 1700 sq ft home and needed the extender gadget to get reliable wifi in all 3 bedrooms. I'm now in a 1-bedroom 700 sq ft apt and don't need that gadget (sorry don't recall the name, it plugs into reg outlet, white box). Hope this helps

If you have your internet established and active already with your provider getting this device up and running shouldn't be a problem. The product came with good instructions for getting this set up then had specific info for most internet providers to connect to them.
