Check with Suddenlink Communications as they are the only ones that can say for sure that it is or isn't compatible. As for the yellow ethernet cable, it IS NOT necessary to use it. As long as you have a pc/laptop that has a Wi-Fi card, you should be ok. However, keep in mind that a wired connection is faster and more reliable than Wi-fi connections. .
