Yes, my TV is in the basement wifi works very well better then comcast system.

Not sure what you mean by "WiFi unit", but it serves as both cable modem plus WiFi router. So no need to buy 2 devices.

Yes, combo modem & router, works well for my use, I stream video ,but don't play games,easy to setup.
