It depends on where you can get a good signal to boost from. If your extender on receives a 30 % signal it will only boost that 30% signal. I have a 3 story house and have my router on the top floor in the family room. I place the booster in a bedroom on the 2nd floor above my mancave basement. It was receiving an 80% signal and it boosted it to the mancave. Went from originally a 10% signal in mancave to a 75% signal with booster.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the same situation except I placed my router in the basement up high near the ceiling and then placed the range expander in the master bedroom which is at the far end of the house. Everything works great and the SSID is the same throughout the entire house. This will make you happy if you use a smartphone, tablet or any other wireless device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would place it halfway to the basement. you could experiment also until you're happy
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. To get the best result in your particular home, suggest plugging it in at varying access points between the router and your basement. Start in your basement and walk back up from there to other wall plugs (if necessary) to get the optimal signal in your basement . Using your phone or laptop, see which point gives you the best result in or closest to your basement.
